Excitement is building and the long wait is over. I managed to stay focused for on more day of work to clear all my priority items off my tasks list. it’s hard to keep your head in the game when it is really on a beach. Now home to get last minute items into my carry-on and try to sleep. I cannot sleep well before flying, I keep thinking of that chaotic scene from Home Alone where they oversleep and nearly miss their flight.
It 3:30 am, the alarm goes off. My second alarm goes off. We throw the last bags into the car. Wallet, check. Tickets, check. Phone, check. Set the thermostat, check. Doors locked, check. Toss the munchkin in the back or the preheated car. We are airport bound!
Its early, I’m tired. I could use coffee and probably a snack. The family is racked out while I am considering what to do on vacation just to stay up. This is the drudgery of travel. Early morning wake ups, airport lines, dragging bags all about while balancing you excitement with trying to figure out what on Earth I forgot.
Bags are dropped. Rush through security and all the madness there. Pass the long lines of other frustrated passengers waiting for coffee on our way to the terminal. Made it, the plane is boarding 3 of 9 groups. We are group 7.
A short time later we push off. My knees pushed against the lady’s seat in front of me. I’m convinced that all airline execs are all under 5′-7″ and hate tall people or have never had to fly commercial in economy class seats.

Wheels up, next stop Hawaii via Phoenix and a long layover in San Francisco! Spring break is here and I’m sick of shoveling snow!
